PJSC LUKOIL began to work in Tatarstan in 1995. Currently the Company operates in 13 municipal districts of the Republic and develops 23 oil fields. In 2014 the Company passed the milestone of 1 million tons of the annual oil output in the Republic of Tatarstan. On top of that, the Company develops petroleum product marketing in the region.
In terms of innovations, LUKOIL is involved in a series of field tests of the water-alternating-gas technology. The water-alternating-gas technology serves three purposes at the same time: the oil recovery factor is improved, the recovery ratio of the associated petroleum gas goes up, the negative environmental impact is reduced. This technology is protected by the Russian Federation patent.
In 2013, the Company signed an agreement with the Kazan Federal University on cooperation in advanced oil recovery method development.
In 2014 the Company reached a 95% associated petroleum gas (APG) utilization level in the Republic of Tatarstan.
To better protect the environment, design documents were developed to disassemble 30 km of pipelines in the vicinity of the Ozernoye field that had been flooded and abandoned after construction of the Nizhnekamskoye reservoir. All the supplies required for the implementation of this environmental project have been approved by the supervisory authorities and delivered to the authorized government bodies of Tatarstan.
LUKOIL pays a lot of attention to the social development of the region, including as part of the cooperation agreement signed between PJSC LUKOIL and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan in June 2010.
In accordance with this agreement, the Company partly finances the republican social mortgage program and provides material support to the restoration of architectural monuments of the island of Sviyazhsk and the town of Bolgar, as well as other socially significant projects in the region.
The Social and Cultural Projects Competition has been organized by PJSC LUKOIL in the Republic of Tatarstan since 2010. Over this time approximately 4 thousand grant applications have been submitted, resulting in around 600 winners. Top management of PJSC LUKOIL and the Republic of Tatarstan take part to award the winners.
Support is provided to orphanages, creative teams, sports and social infrastructure of the region on a regular basis.
