PJSC LUKOIL has been present in Romania since 1998, and is now successfully operating in all segments of the country's energy sector: geological exploration, oil refining, oil and petroleum products deliveries, gas station network operations and sustainable energy.
PJSC LUKOIL became Russia's first private company to pave the way for foreign investment in Romania by acquiring a stake in the S.C. PETROTEL LUKOIL S.A. refinery in Ploieşti.
PJSC “LUKOIL” has been investing in exploration and production in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea since 2011 and carries out exploration and development of the Trident block as an operator.
LUKOIL has been operating S.C. PETROTEL-LUKOIL S.A. refinery since 1999.
The Company makes regular investments in the development of its business and upgrading of its production facilities.
This allowed the Company to significantly increase the S.C. PETROTEL-LUKOIL S.A.'s capacity, attain an almost hundred-percent oil conversion ratio and set up new production facilities (in particular for lubricants production) while meeting the highest European standards, providing stable jobs and creating a favorable social climate in the region.

Prahova country’s Commercial and Industrial Chamber presented the PETROTEL-LUKOIL refinery with an award for social responsibility.
A new gas field was discovered at the Trident block in the Black Sea continental shelf of Romania.
LUKOIL Overseas began seismic surveys at the Est Rapsodia and Trident offshore blocks.
LUKOIL signed a number of concession agreements for the exploration and development of two blocks: Est Rapsodia and Trident, in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea.
S.C. LUKOIL LUBRICANTS EUROPE S.R.L. was established to produce lubricants at the S.C. PETROTEL-LUKOIL S.A. refinery’s facilities.
A commissioning ceremony for new production facilities at the S.C. PETROTEL-LUKOIL S.A. refinery was held, attended by Vagit Alekperov, Russia’s Ambassador to Romania Alexander Churilin and the Ploieşti Mayor.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the company, LUKOIL held a re-commissioning ceremony for the upgraded S.C.PETROTEL-LUKOIL S.A. refinery. The reconstruction cost USD 120,7 mln.
LUKOIL signed an agreement to acquire a stake in PETROTEL JSC.
In all regions of its operations, LUKOIL strives to promote socio-economic development and to this end implements a wide range of social responsibility and charity projects.
In 2011, the Company took an active part in the construction of Romania’s first diagnostics and treatment center for children with lymphoid cancer. As part of the charity campaign “Be with LUKOIL and save lives”, the Company provided financial support to the Children’s Oncology Clinic "Louis Ţurcanu” in Timişoara. It also supported the Nicolae Balcescu Associaton that provides care to children suffering from cancer.
PJSC LUKOIL is also committed to supporting education. The Company finances scholarships for a number of students of the Oil and Gas University in Ploieşti.
PJSC LUKOIL was the major sponsor if one of Romania’s most renowned athletes, Mihai Leu, the national rally ex-champion and the world’s boxing ex-champion.
PJSC LUKOIL also provided sponsorship to the Rapid football club, one of the strongest in Romania.
The Company provides funds for the management and mitigation of natural disaster effects. It also allocates funds to support cultural and educations projects.
Yet another priority of PJSC LUKOIL is environmental protection. Regular upgrading of refineries has enabled the Company to cut emissions and boost its energy efficiency. In 2013, the Company was first in Romania to live up to its obligations to plant trees and shrubbery around the historical sludge tanks. At five sludge tanks, accommodated on a territory of 8 ha, over 450,000 cu. m of oil waste were processed. The total cost of works was USD 38,5 mln.

Its tree planting event held jointly with the Rotary Club, Ploieşti Mayor’s Office and the Forestry Department at the former Ploieşti landfill, gave a whole new look to the city.
The Company provided support to the Eco-Atitudine national project, officially launched on April 29, 2015 by Romania’s Environment Minister Gratiela Gavrilescu. As part of a large-scale information campaign, the Company provided environmental education and training to more than 120,000 Romanian school and university students, parents and teachers.
It also supported the “Think Green, Think Clean” initiative, an environmental project in the Prahova county, organized by the Environmental Protection Agency for 13 schools from Ploieşti.
